Why should I have my septic tank cleaned?
When waste enters the tank, bacteria begin to break down the solid materials. This process is called decomposition. As a result of decomposition, solids are reduced, leaving a residue behind in the tank. As time passes, the remaining residue builds up. It must be removed to prevent it from entering the tile field and clogging the system. By having your tank pumped as recommended, you can prolong the life of your septic system.
How often should I get my septic tank cleaned?
The frequency at which the tank should be pumped will vary depending on the size of the tank and how much water and waste are being pumped into it daily. We recommend having it pumped every 2-3 years with a family of 4.
Warning signs of system failure:
• Gurgling sounds in any pipes or drains
